In July, the People Team at Flywire hosted a fantastic lineup of events designed to promote health, happiness, and connection - in short, wellbeing! Throughout the month they focused on nurturing FlyMates’ physical, mental, financial and social health. From stretching our bodies, finding mindfulness, or simply taking a break, we had our FlyMates covered, offering multiple opportunities and resources to prioritize individual wellbeing and self-care.

Embracing physical wellbeing across

At Flywire, we believe that physical wellbeing is a cornerstone of a healthy and productive work environment, so to highlight this we organized a variety of activities across all our offices globally. Our team members could unwind and re-energize during rejuvenating yoga and Pilates sessions, or enjoy a soothing massage to help them relax and de-stress. To kickstart the day on a healthy note we provided nutritious breakfast options, ensuring that our FlyMates had the energy they needed to tackle the day.

Supporting mental, emotional, and financial wellbeing

During the month, we prioritized the holistic wellbeing of our employees, recognizing the combined importance of mental, emotional, and financial health. In partnership with our dedicated wellbeing partner, Lyra, we hosted a session focused on financial wellbeing - employees received expert advice on why we manage our money the way we do, plus support around how we feel about our finances and planning for the future. As a wellbeing partner, Lyra provides FlyMates with a comprehensive mental and emotional support platform, allowing them to seek guidance, find resources, and connect with counselors, and is available on-demand for all FlyMates.

To encourage moments of mindfulness during wellbeing month we supplied mandalas and coloring equipment in our offices, offering our FlyMates a peaceful space for relaxation, self-reflection and mindful creativity.

Finally, we engaged with the youngest members of our Flywire community - our kids! We provided them and their parents with tools to help the whole family communicate and share their emotions, and taught them some fun animal yoga poses to aid relaxation and calm.

Fostering social wellbeing

To celebrate and strengthen the bonds within our FlyMate community, we hosted mid-year out-of-office events across our nine global offices. These gatherings, from summer picnics and winery visits to surf lessons at the beach, provided a wonderful opportunity for employees to socialize, relax, and get to know each other even better in a fun and informal setting. Additionally, we held five virtual hello sessions, where FlyMates and members of the Executive team from different regions could connect and share wellbeing tips. These sessions fostered a sense of community and allowed team members to exchange valuable insights on maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Global collaboration

The Experience Team proudly partnered with Women of Flywire to present 'The Circle of Life,' a captivating mini-series exploring the key stages of a woman's life. Through this four-part series, we delved into the nuances of fertility, pregnancy, birth, the menstrual cycle, menopause, and the profound realities of death and grief. Each session provided a holistic understanding, blending expert insights with personal narratives, and offering practical advice for navigating these significant life stages.

The collaboration exemplified a shared commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community, and the series not only educated but also empowered attendees by breaking down complex topics and encouraging open conversations. The enthusiasm and engagement from participants highlighted the importance of this type of dialogue in promoting overall wellbeing.

We hope that our wellbeing month inspired FlyMates to continue to prioritize their own wellbeing and that of those closest to them. Wellbeing is a journey, so let’s keep the momentum, as well as the conversation going!
