I’m so proud and excited to announce that Flywire reached a new milestone today: we’re now a publicly-traded company (Nasdaq: FLYW)!
It’s the next phase of our journey, but certainly not the last. If you know anything about our culture and our FlyMates, you know that we’re laser-focused on execution. While we will take this moment to celebrate, we won’t let it distract us from delivering the most important and complex payments for our more than 2,250 clients and their customers all around the world.
This morning, I had the opportunity to ring the opening bell at Nasdaq alongside many FlyMates, family and members of our Board of Directors. Due to global travel restrictions (although we tried!) we were able to have all of our global FlyMates joining in the ceremony virtually. Today was a surreal experience, and I’d like to take a moment to reflect on our journey and acknowledge everyone who contributed to it.
When we started more than 10 years ago, we saw an opportunity to transform the way education payments were made and received, using modern technology. Building upon that success, we expanded into new verticals - like healthcare, travel and B2B - and developed a proven track record for truly transforming how high-value payments are delivered in complex, digitally underserved industries.
The recipe for success came down to this: we invested in what we call our Flywire Advantage, which is the combination of our next gen payments platform, proprietary global payment network, and vertical-specific software. Alone, these core elements are unique, but together they give Flywire a clear competitive advantage.
Most importantly, we invested in our FlyMates - there are more than 450 of them across 12 global offices today. They are experts in the industries that they serve, and leaders in their functional domains. FlyMates are innovative and resilient - in the face of a pandemic, our FlyMates overcame countless challenges, and with grit and determination managed to support our clients and deliver a record year for us. Our team also believes in giving back to the industries that we serve - from international service trips, to local volunteering opportunities, FlyMates embody our core values in and out of the office. I couldn’t be more proud to lead this team.
To all FlyMates: Thank you for all of your hard work, passion, innovation, energy and time. You made today’s event possible, and you will continue to make Flywire a better company for years to come.
